Climb the Success

By not seeking happiness in an end goal — the show ‘Bojack Horseman’ presents it up perfectly.
Some context: Bojack is half-horse, half-human and living with clinical depression.
In every season, he tries to fix his life by achieving a main goal like writing a book, getting an oscar, etc.
After a lot of conflicts, he gets the goal but still, his life stays the same. And the fact that his life is the same fuels his depression.
What mistake is Bojack making?

The huge goals you have of getting that job, dating that girl, getting that physique aren’t going to solve your life.
You will feel good for a while and then you will come back to feeling normal.
No goal or destination can save you from feeling bad.
And you have to accept it. You have to live with the fact that we will be getting sad after getting happy.
Happiness and sadness are just waves of life and all we can do is try our best as we ride those waves.
Clarification: “I am saying have goals but don’t seek happiness in your goals”
How I got out of my depression: “I accepted the bad state I was in continued to make it a bit better and not escaping into the fantasy of some eternal salvation”
